Wellpoints were installed with a large-diameter sand casing to address the layered geological conditions and allow draining of the upper sands. The project was successfully completed on time while the facility continued regular operations. The high-water table, tight working conditions and logistical challenges were overcome by Griffin’s expert engineering and operations teams. The design of the system allowed the lines to be dewatered concurrently, which saved the contractor a significant amount in operational costs. https://hubs.ly/Q01mlMBm0

Project Highlight with Granite Construction and @Airport Authority of San Diego on the West Refueler and Solid Waste Facility. To complete the project successfully, a wellpoint system along excavated trenches and around the perimeter of the containment pit was needed. In addition, two (2) treatment systems were mobilized to treat volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and total suspended solids (TSS). After treatment, the water was routed to multiple discharge locations. This project required working at night under an accelerated schedule and in very close proximity to a runway. 🛫 🏆PROJECT WINS - Installation of a wellpoint system under rigorous safety regulations and site logistics - Installation of treatment systems capable of treating against VOCs and TSS - High-quality communication amongst clients, airport authority - Our experience with Granite continues to grow into the go-to dewatering and treatment subcontractor - The Airport Authority recognizes Griffin as a leading expert in the dewatering and treatment industry Thank you, and Congratulations to the Project Team for their expert execution of this project!

Griffin Dewatering provided dewatering and water treatment services for a facility expansion located in the Rocky Mountain region of the US. The formation to be dewatered is a high-energy depositional environment composed of sand, cobbles, and boulders. Therefore, the wellpoints were ultimately installed utilizing sonic drilling methods. The groundwater from the dewatering system was high in iron, suspended solids, manganese, and VOCs. The treatment consisted of coagulation/filtration, pH adjustments, sand filters, and carbon media. #griffin #dewatering #construction
